Going Fast

The reason that I am not faster than I am is that I just about always treat each of my workouts as though it were a race.  Of course, this leads to overtraining since the body can't recover quickly enough before the next workout.  This past Saturday's run was no exception.  I had a blast running with Darren and Brian from the Runner's Zone in Anaheim Hills, but they are much faster than me!  They decided to go long with me and we did 14 miles, but at a pace which was 1.5 to 2 minutes faster than my training pace.  I managed to hang on and just about PR'd the half marathon which was fantastic!  This is why I run.  I can't believe I trained for two marathons before I started running with a group.  Yes I overtrained, but it was sooo worth it.  Maybe I'll slow down next time.
